St David’s or St Davids? – Swansea
The writing is on the wall for Swansea lettering caught in the sights of a grammatical campaigner.
Councillor Ioan Richard has labelled the owners of a new block of student flats on New Cut Road near the city centre as “clowns” after spotting a huge sign bearing ‘St Davids’ on the side of the building.
The former teacher explained: “As a Welshman I am, proud of our patron saint — St David — and maybe heartened to know we either have more than one patron saint or just stubborn clowns who have had no grammar teaching. St Davids means there are more than one St David …
