Plans to build 100,000 homes and 20,000 student flats in Sweden
Sweden is set to build 100,000 new homes and another 20,000 student flats over the next six years, its Prime Minister has announced.
Fredrik Reindfeldt told a conference in Almedalen yesterday (Thursday) the new homes were planned to be built by 2035 and the student accommodation by 2020.The building of the 100,000 new homes across Sweden – part of a Construction Sweden campaign (Sverigebygget) – would cost around 400billion kronor (US$59billion). The funding will be come from user fees, the government and private investors.
The move for more student flats has been welcomed by the Student Federation trade association, which just a few weeks ago suggested that the construction of new student accommodation needed to increase 20-fold to meet the need …
