Imperial College Proposals For Wood Lane Site – London
Imperial College has submitted plans for the next phase of “Imperial West“, being built on the old BBC Wood Lane site.
The first four student accommodation blocks will be finished in August, but Imperial has high hopes for the rest of the land. Its website describes a genuine mixed use development which, in conjunction with the land south of the Westway, will provide a balanced development creating jobs, homes and leisure opportunities.
The planning application definitely lives up to those ambitions. As well as postgrad facilities and a new building for health and biomedical research, there will be space for technology start-ups under the Imperial Innovations banner, around 220 new homes in a 34 storey tower block, a four star hotel, shops, healthcare services and a nursery, and a new public space roughly the size of Soho Square …
