Manchester Student village’ approved by city council

Plans for superb new student accommodation at Birley Fields have been approved for construction.

The majority of the 1,200 new bedrooms will be arranged in eco townhouses with large communal living and kitchen areas and private gardens.

The four-storey townhouses will be built around the edges of the new £139million Birley Fields campus and will blend in with existing local buildings. Work is already well underway on the Academic Building, Energy Centre and Car Park at the site on Stretford Road and approval for the second phase – accommodation – was granted unanimously by Manchester City Council’s Planning & Highways Committee on February 14 …
