University of London to close student hall

The University of London (UoL) is currently seeking permission to close down Garden Halls on Cartwright Gardens in a process that will take two years, during which the Halls will be unavailable for students.

Nevertheless, an LSE spokesperson has confirmed at the School will guarantee an offer of accommodation to all new first year undergraduate students who apply by the deadline.

According to the University of London Union (ULU), the UoL is planning to renovate Garden Halls, a set of three catered accommodation blocks containing almost 1000 beds, so that the new building will contain approximately 1200 beds.  Permission is expected to be obtained by early May, and reconstruction is set to begin in summer …
