Student flats block to be 19 storeys – London

An office block and pub are set to be demolished to make way for a sixth form college.

Lambeth council planners have given the go-ahead for demolition of York House and the Florence Nightingale pub in Westminster Bridge Road, Waterloo, to be replaced with a 19-storey block of student flats.

The building would provide accommodation for students studying at the DLD College London – which will operate from the first three floors of the new building.York House – near the Park Plaza and St Thomas’ Hospital – is a vacant office block built in the 1960s and has been a long-term target for regeneration.The replacement student apartment block will comprise 1,093 bedrooms, teaching space for the DLD College London, a swimming pool, gym and space for new business start-ups …
