Student housing and new Microsoft HQ get the go-ahead – Cambridge
Plans for the first phase of Cambridge’s station area redevelopment, and a new home for Microsoft Research in the city, have been approved.
The consents represent a massive leap forward for the cb1 project, which had been at a standstill since a previous set of designs for the first phase were thrown out in June after being branded “anywhere architecture”.
Members of Cambridge City Council’s planning committee said the new drawings were a big improvement and it is now expected the four blocks of student accommodation between the railway station and Hills Road, which form the first phase, will be ready for September 2012 …
