Fund to invest £250m in student accommodation

A new fund plans to invest £250 million in developing British student accommodation. Curlew Student Trust (CST), a joint venture between CBRE and Curlew Capital, will forward-fund developments across the UK.

In its sights are top-50 and Russell Group universities in popular student destinations.  Curlew will manage the fund, while CBRE sources investment through its Global Multi Manager arm. CBRE has already committed £40 million but hopes to raise £250 million in total.

The fund, which has a seven-year lifespan, has already acquired three developments from building firm Watkins Jones Group, for £63 million. The schemes, based in Sheffield, Swansea and Birmingham, are at different stages of development and due for completion in the next two years …
