Accommodation for up to 700 students approved in Liverpool

Two major city centre accommodation schemes to house up to 700 students were approved by city planners.

Projects for the site of the former Josephine Butler House, on Myrtle Street, and Philharmonic Court, off Caledonia Street, were given the go-ahead at a second hearing after planners decided to visit the sites for themselves before making a decision.

But, at a highly-charged meeting at Liverpool town hall, the committee decided to rubber stamp the schemes …
