New state of the art accommodation for York St John

Planners have granted the go-ahead for developers to begin work on York St John University’s latest student accommodation in the city.

The £12 million development will provide state-of-the-art accommodation for 258 students within a 10 minute walk from the University’s main campus on Lord Mayor’s Walk. Work will begin at the site on Carmelite Street in July, ready for students to take up residence in September 2013.

York-based S Harrison Developments Ltd are managing the project and have already successfully completed two student accommodation developments – Gray’s Wharf and Percy’s Lane – off Walmgate. These have been heralded a great success with students integrating well into the local community and providing an economic boost for local traders.
