£20m student flats unveiled – Sheffield

Students could start moving into a £20 million housing development on the edge of Sheffield city centre in two years’ time, developers have said. Councillors approved plans on Monday for 95 flats and 21 town houses on the junction of Sidney Street and Sylvester Lane.

They had previously refused planning permission, arguing that 445 new student bedrooms would adversely impact the area, which is on the edge of the cultural industries quarter.

But they granted approval after developers Elmsdale Estates and architects Cartwright Pickard reduced the student capacity to 162 and put in more private flats …
