Exeter students get new digs

Work has started on a £7.2 million scheme to transform a disused builders’ merchants into contemporary student accommodation within a stone’s throw of the University of Exeter Streatham campus.

Ocon Construction will take just nine months to construct the 214 bedroom Opal 1 Exeter scheme on Cowley Bridge Road, with handover due in September in time for the 2010/2011 academic year.

The timber-framed scheme will be constructed as four separate buildings, each four storeys high, with landscaped garden areas between each one to ensure views to the surrounding countryside are maintained …
