Laing O’Rourke to build affordable accommodation for Oxford students

Oxford University’s Somerville College aims to improve access to education for poorer students through cheaper housing.

Laing O’Rourke has been named as the contractor on an £11m new student accommodation development at Oxford University’s Somerville College, following approval of Niall McLaughlin Architects’ design last September.

The two new buildings, providing affordable accommodation in the form of 68 en-suite rooms, is part of a £15m development project at the college aimed to increase access to higher education by eliminating the need for Somerville students to live elsewhere in the city …
