Can universities be masters of their post-Brexit destiny? – Europe
The post-March 2019 relationship between the United Kingdom and the European Union is no clearer and the uncertainty has now affected all sectors of higher education activity. The resources spent by UK organisations strategising for all possible scenarios will have long-term implications, whatever the final outcome, because prioritising resources towards this end comes at the expense of other areas.
On the EU side, the potential impact is less for universities based in an EU member state because all the programmes which UK universities are hoping to access will continue (for instance, Horizon 2020 and its successor Horizon Europe) minus, at worst, the participation of British institutions, many of which are competitors with a highly successful track record of winning EU research funding …
