Concerns over student accommodation plans for Bangor High Street

Plans for more student flats on Bangor High Street have been slammed by city councillors.

A resubmitted planning application by Carlton to build a four-storey and a six-storey building to include retail units and 97 student study bedrooms and parking facilities at the site of the old N and F Discount Store was discussed at a meeting of the city council’s planning and amenities committee last week.

The original application to build a 109-bedroom hostel on the site was turned down by Gwynedd Council for reasons of overdevelopment and the design of the proposed building being out of character with the surrounding area …
