Student flat plans thrown out again – Sheffield

Developers who wanted to add a block of student flats on to a 19th century listed building in Sheffield have been knocked back once more.

Adam Khan Architects applied last year to redevelop the 19th-century Vestry Hall, on the corner of Crookesmoor Road and Roebuck Road, Crookesmoor, and add a new extension to the adjoining Coach House with flats housing 29 students.

Sheffield councillors rejected the plans at a meeting last May, saying the proposed development would “detract from the special architectural and historic interest” of the hall and also constitute an overdevelopment of the site …
